What is the difference between an intolerance and an allergy?
The intolerances detected by the IAGen Test are genetic in origin (non-immunological), unlike allergies, which are mediated by IgE antibodies. The IAGen Test is genetic vs functional: it detects hereditary predisposition and complements functional breath tests.

The test is performed using a buccal swab or a blood sample and does not require fasting or special preparation. It is only recommended to avoid heavy meals for at least 30 minutes before the test.

What is the difference between a food intolerance and a food allergy?

A food intolerance is a non-immunological response (genetic or enzymatic), typically associated with delayed digestive symptoms. The IAGen Test detects genetically based intolerances, not allergies.

Can I have gluten intolerance without having coeliac disease?

Yes. Non-coeliac gluten intolerance or non-coeliac gluten sensitivity causes symptoms similar to coeliac disease but without intestinal damage or HLA markers. The IAGen Test identifies the genetic predisposition to coeliac disease, and the absence of this predisposition points towards non-coeliac gluten sensitivity.
