Descripción

The most common lactose intolerance symptoms include bloating, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and gas after consuming dairy products. It is caused by reduced activity of the lactase enzyme, which is required to digest lactose. The lactose intolerance genetic test confirms whether the cause is hereditary (primary lactase deficiency) or acquired.

Fructose intolerance symptoms in the hereditary form include severe abdominal pain, vomiting, hypoglycaemia and, if left untreated, liver damage. It is caused by mutations in the aldolase B (ALDOB) gene. Distinguishing between the genetic and functional forms is the key purpose of this test.

¿Is it suitable for me?

This test is for you if: You experience recurrent lactose intolerance symptoms or fructose intolerance symptoms. You have a family history of these intolerances. You have received inconclusive results from functional tests (breath tests). You want to confirm whether your intolerance is genetic or functional.

How does it work?

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a positive result confirm intolerance?

Indicates genetic predisposition, not a clinical diagnosis.

What are the symptoms of fructose intolerance?

Fructose intolerance symptoms include abdominal pain, bloating, gas and diarrhoea after consuming fruit, fruit juices or honey. In the hereditary form, it can cause severe hypoglycaemia and liver damage. The Lactose and Fructose Genetic Test can identify the hereditary form.

How do I know if I have lactose intolerance?

The most common lactose intolerance symptoms are bloating, gas, diarrhoea and abdominal pain after consuming dairy products. The lactose intolerance genetic test confirms whether the cause is hereditary. To detect functional malabsorption, the Lactose Breath Test is the reference diagnostic method.

How are the results interpreted?

They must be reviewed by a specialist.

Requires fasting?

No, it is not necessary.
